Section 1.1 Election of Directors
- Regular and At-Large Directors shall be properly nominated and elected by secret balloting by a majority of Adult Members present at the annual membership meeting.
- In the event that an election for a Director does not produce a majority winner, the two (2) candidates receiving the most votes shall compete in a runoff election until one receives a majority of votes from the quorum.
- Each Director, whether elected at an annual meeting, elected to fill a vacancy, or appointed and qualified to the position, shall assume office immediately following the meeting in which they were elected or appointed and qualified until his or her successor shall have been duly elected or appointed and qualified, until death, or until he or she shall resign or be removed in the manner hereinafter provided.
- Election of officers from eligible, properly-nominated Directors shall occur by secret balloting through majority vote of Directors present at the annual Board of Directors meeting.
- Only Regular and At-Large Directors shall be eligible for nomination and election as Officers.
Section 1.2 Terms of Directors
- All Regular Directors and At-Large Directors shall serve two-year terms. Two (2) Regular Directors and One (1) At-Large Director shall be elected every year.
- Appointed Directors shall serve one-year terms.
Section 1.3 Proviso to Initially Establish Staggered Terms
- In the year 2006, the term for Directors shall be as follows:
- The Four (4) Regular Directors and shall serve for a term of two (2) years.
- The Three (3) At Large Directors shall serve for a term of one (1) year.
- Appointed Directors shall serve one-year terms.
- Beginning in the year 2007, all Regular and At-Large Directors elected thereafter shall serve two-year staggered terms as outlined in Section 1.2 of these Rules.
Section 1.4 Qualification of Directors Defined
- Regular Directors shall qualify by meeting the requirements for respective class eligibility as follows:
- Be the “parent or guardian” of any child registered within the last two calendar years as a Player
- Member and has a child currently registered as a Player Member.
- At Large Directors shall qualify by meeting the requirements for respective class eligibility as follows:
- Be the “parent or guardian” of any child registered within the last two calendar years as a Player
- Member and has a child currently registered as a Player Member or be an Associate Member.
- Qualifying members will submit their eligibility status to the Nomination Committee for consideration. The Nomination Committee by majority vote will have the discretion to place nominees into any category under which they qualify.
- Appointed Directors shall qualify after receiving formal recommendation for appointment by the WYSA President and formal confirmation through a majority vote of the Board of Directors.
- All Directors, regardless of class, shall be subject to a criminal history background check and, upon satisfactory completion, be required to accept and act as a Director as the final step of qualification.
